Boys High School Coaches

Ryan Sheaffer- Varsity Head Coach 

Ryan grew up outside of Philadelphia, PA.  He was a 3 sport athlete in High School and played College Lacrosse at Messiah College in Grantham, PA.  He also spent 1 year as an assistant coach for the Messiah College Women’s Lacrosse Team.  Coach Sheaffer enters his first year as head coach of Park City Lacrosse after spending 5 seasons as Offensive Coordinator.  The 2005 Assistant Coach of the Year, Coach Sheaffer still plays the game every chance he gets competing in local Men’s leagues and traveling to play in tournaments around the intermountain west.

 
Ryan and his wife Karyn are both avid lovers of lacrosse and the outdoors, enjoying backpacking, mountain biking, snowboarding, and more.  They have lived in Park City for 5 years with their 2 dogs Bailey and Sambuca.

Steve Mersereau – Varsity Assistant Coach

A 12 year Park City resident played high school lacrosse in Syracuse, New York. He played college lacrosse at  Colgate University. His senior year, he was named MVP - defense. For 6 years Steve has coached Park City youth lacrosse teams, including a year as assistant JV Coach for Park City High School. In 2006, he was the Head coach for Team Utah U-15 Park City Ski Town Shootout and Vail tournament teams. Steve brings a strong background in athletic conditioning and sport specific training to the team.  He enjoys mountain biking, skiing, waterskiing and trail running.  Steve is married and the father of 4 boys ages 14-23.

Jason Balmer- Varsity Assistant Coach

Jason is a native from Chest Springs, Pennsylvania. He attend The Forman School in Litchfield, Connecticut and was recruited by Ohio Wesleyan University were he played Attack. Jason was a four time Varsity letterman and was a member of the team that won three NCAC Championships. The team also won two NCAA bids.     

Rich Levi - Junior Varsity Head Coach

Rich is a native of Baltimore, MD, where he began playing lacrosse when he was six-years-old. After playing football and lacrosse at the Gilman School, Rich went on to become the captain of the varsity lacrosse team at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. While playing for Brown, Rich's team was undefeated and won the Ivy League Championship in 1991. The team was also ranked #2 in the country and they succeeded to the quarterfinals of the NCAA championship tournament in 1991 and 1992. Since graduating from Brown, Rich has remained active in the Utah lacrosse community, playing on several men's teams and competing in tournaments throughout the country. From 2006 to 2008, Rich was the head coach of the University of Utah Men's Lacrosse Team, where he won theRocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference coach of the year award for the 2008 season.Rich and his wife Debbie have lived in Park City since 1999 and they love to run, ski, snowboard, hike, and play lacrosse together.
